yesterday was crap!

I should maybe start back when my week went to crap. Last Friday I found out an uncle of mine had died and his funeral would be the next day. (Oh the joy of being in a dysfuntional family!) The funeral was the same day as a birthday party Micah & I had to go to. I was supposed to make mac & chee, but as I had a funeral to attend, I was unable to make it. We went and had a good time at the party.
Flash forward to Wednesday. My boss (who hosted the party... it was his & his two kids' birthday) said to me that if I promised to bring something and I couldn't I should call to let someone know. I told him I hadn't had time that morning as there had been a death in the family. (Needless to say he felt rather ridiculous.)
Then his wife (who also works with us) was saying how forward she'd been to have some of the M&C. (Micah's M&C is ridiculously yummy.) I felt like saying to her: "I'm so sorry I couldn't bring you food. The next time there's a death in my family, I promise I won't go to the funeral, even if it's for my dearest brother, if I haven't made you Mac & Chee!" Some people have no respect. I find it sad food is more important to her than my feelings.
Anyway... after I left work I was going to get onto the freeway and ran into a curb. My car drives straight and there aren't any dents, so it's fine. I just felt like and idiot. Then I had to merge from the 5 to the 22 and some a-hole flipped me off! I mean, all I wanted to do was get over and he was stopped. Some people; so selfish.
When I got home last night I dropped by the mail box to get the mail like I always do when I get home and there were people talking to the maintainance guy. The M.G. asked if our place was flooded. I told him I had no idea and went to ask Micah. Lo-and-behold our apartment was flooded. Thank goodness it was just the bathroom area... which is right off our bedroom. The lower level of our entire unit (there are eight: four bottom & four top) was drown and our's was the worst. They were in and out of our place until past midnight. All our clean laundry I'd done Tuesday but wasn't able to fold & put away is soaked and needs to be washed AGAIN! They're going to have to rip out part of our carpet and sterilize it.
I'll reiterate that I'm convinced it's the loud-walking-talk-until-2am people right above us. It's crazy! They're up until, like, 2am talking or yelling or fighting and they walk like they don't have downstairs neighbors. What on earth are they putting down their drains for goodness sake?!
I hope next week will be better.

tgit

Yeah.... that's right: THANK GOD IT'S THURSDAY!! (It's my Friday! Neener neener!) That gives me three whole days to clean/knit/read/generally putz. We (Micah, Heather, Karl and myself) are going to go see Harry Potter tonight since Karl just can't wait any longer... and it's his birthday.

I'm kind of chickening out on my skirt. NOT TOTALLY! Just for now. I want to knit a poncho... so? I want to buy another skein of the bamboo (at $8.25! Yikes!) and kinda go through trial-and-error deciferring the chart into something I can understand...

And I'm mad at the two ginormous hanks of Sugar 'N Cream I have because they just don't feel like a shrug to me. Now I don't know what to do with them. Darn it all!

Micah says that when (if) we ever have children, I'll have to knit them Viking helmet beanies... even though neither of us are remotely Scandanavian...

Happy July!!

The fourth is Wednesday and Micah & I are having a (super-small like our apartment) get-together/grill-off!! It'll be fun even if it's just the two of us.

Birthday week in review: Wednesday June 20 was my 22nd birthday. Micah & I went to George's Greek Deli. We saw at least 6 Doxies on the way. A-dorable! (I think it was a sign...) We both had souvlaki... yum. I bought a new Mp3 player (a white Creative Zen Micro 5g - way cool) Tuesday. I went to dinner Thursday with Stevie; we went to El Pollo Loco because I wanted birthday flan & he gave me the Queen... the movie. Friday I went with Nola to see Frosty Heidi & Frank and got there really early so we could get a good seat and then couldn't hear anything because people were all in the way! Saturday we saw April and had an impromptu hang out with her before she went to work. Then I hung out with Karen later Saturday and we went to Woody's & Ikea. Sunday we went to the Doxie races and Micah got his new car. Stevie & Karen & Heather & Karl & Micah & I were there. And there were Doxies everywhere! It was adorable.

And I know I talked about this last week at S&B, but I'll keep the word out. ;) Micah (sweetheart) went to Yarn Lady to get my birthday present: Classic Elite Yarn's BamBoo in #9471 Bougainville. The lady at first tried to tell him that that company didn't make a bamboo yarn. Then she found ONE skein and it wasn't even the color I wanted. "No, she already has that color. And she was pretty insistent that this is what she wants." BTW: He even memorized the color number! "What my baby wants my baby gets." Although he thought a yarn guide was a book... what a darling! So when he got home he spent a hour trying to find my yarn for me. "Those yarn shop websites are useless." They kind of are... They're great if you want to know what events are coming up, but you can't actually buy any yarn; not that you'd want to! Goodness! Y.L. is way down in Laguna Hills anyway. Why should I go there when Alamitos Bay Yarn Company is just over in... well... Alamitos Bay?!! The only reason I wanted Micah to even go to Y.L. is because it is right near his work. The people there are just a bunch of rude, old, rich biddies!!!

I shaved Micah's hair yesterday. He's like a white Ghandi. I'm 1/3 way done with the wine cozy... it's all stockinette, so it's no bfd.

That's all folks!
