"Starbuck" actually means something!!

Since I've been thinking about changing my last name when I get wedded, I've been trying to figure out what to do about my middle name as well. The only reason I would want to associate with my current last name is because of my brother.

Should I combine my middle & last names? Sarek? (There's actually "Zarek" which means "may god protect the king" in Persian.) Knirah? (Mirah, "glad" in Arabic, or Norah, "honor" in English.)

"Maybe I could take the first initial of my middle name and the last initial of my last name," I thought. Starbuck is all I found with "S" and "K". Starbuck, by the by, is English for "From the river where stakes were got." (c/o babynames.com) Ha!

So I think I'll just stick with Sarah as my middle name and let brother worry about our last name.

I think Sarah is a perfectly respectable middle name. BTW, it means "princess".

There is also a lovely fairy tale by the brothers Grimm named Star bucks about a girl who gives away all she has and than gets rewarded again. So yes, a star buck does mean something!
